Transport Charlotte Douglas Airport CLT
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CLT was averaging over fifty million visitors yearly. Throughout the pandemic, the numbers plummeted to a little less than thirty million. And although the numbers are currently much closer to the original, pre-pandemic, statistics, getting early thirty million visitors in one year is still more than most airports can average in a good year.
And with all of these people flooding to Charlotte, the airport provides a host of transportation options to accommodate for all of the visitors to the city.
Charlotte Airport public transportation
Of the many transportation options offered, the Charlotte Airport public transportation options seem to be particular fan favorites. This is probably due to their affordability, convenience, and wide reach all throughout the city.
The bus, for instance, transfers passengers from CLT to Downtown Charlotte within less than half an hour, and for only 3.00 USD.
Taxi services
Other means of transportation Charlotte Airport offers are the taxis.
In every concourse of the terminal, the arrivals level connects to the ground transportation where taxis can be picked up at the curbside. There are airport employees situated there that are ready and willing to assist passengers get into the official taxis.
Certain rideshare taxi companies are also allowed to operate on the grounds of the airport. These companies include Cab Hound, Lyft, and Uber.
Car rentals
Another fan favorite is the option of renting your own car. In order to simplify the process of renting a car at the CLT, the car rental agencies that operate at the airport have been grouped together in one designated area known as the car rental center.
This center is located at the second floor of the hourly deck, and it can be reached by a shuttle bus from the terminal.
Car returns also take place in the same place as the car pick-up, with signs directing drivers to the vehicle return zone.
