The CLT is a major airport in Charlotte North Carolina that serves the city and its surrounding regions. It is highly regarded as an important airport both domestically and internationally, and it is actually one of the busiest in the country.

Even though the airport sees a colossal amount of passengers yearly, the layout remains simple enough to make the journey through the airport as smooth and as easy as possible.
To achieve that, a minimalistic layout is kept, as the CLT only has one single main terminal. This terminal is home to all of the different gates, and it welcomes both the arriving and the departing passengers of international and domestic flights.
The concourses and gates
To keep the terminal as organized as possible, five different concourses were introduced, and they are labeled as A through E. In the middle of all of these concourses, and connecting them to one another is what is known as The Atrium.
This area is a glass-enclosed central zone that houses many restaurants and shops. Its glass front brings in natural light into the airport as well as provides a wonderful view for the passengers.
The concourses are home to a little over a hundred gates, and they are distributed as follows:
- A: 1 to 13 and 21 to 29
- B: 1 to 16
- C: 2 to 19
- D: 1 to 13
- E: 1 to 38
The concourses are also further organized in a similar fashion to one another. In all of them, the first floor is dedicated to welcoming the arriving passengers. Therefore, this floor generally houses the passport control zone as well as baggage claim. On top of that, the first level is connected to the ground transportation zone, where passengers are able to catch a cab or get on a bus, amongst other things.
The second level is where all the departing passengers head to. This level is where security control and check-in counters can be found.
Lastly, there is the top floor, which is the mezzanine that includes some lounges, an inter-faith chapel, and a nursing room, to name a few.

At the CLT, American Airlines runs the majority of the flights coming into and departing from the airport. The B and C, concourses even only serve flights of this airline.
Other airline companies do operate here, though, and they include Lufthansa, Delta, Frontier, and JetBlue, to name a few.
Transportation and parking at the Airport Charlotte NC
At the CLT, many different options for parking are available. For instance, if you are planning on leaving your car parked for an extended period of time, the long-term options allow you to park for as low as 10.00 USD per day.
Shuttle services are also available to transport people from the parking lots to the terminal, and vice versa.
You even have different options for valet parking, depending on how many additional services you would like to have.
There are even free temporary parking zones that allow passengers to wait in their vehicles before picking someone up.
For transportation, passengers can be picked up by a CATS bus from outside any concourse, catch a cab from the same spot, or head over to the car rental center and rent the vehicle that suits them best.
All of the rental car agencies in CLT airport are grouped together in one spot to make it easier for passengers to reach them and to pick their company of choice. The center can be reached by a shuttle service as well.

Not only is first-aid assistance equipped with automatic defibrillators available at the airport, the CLT is also ADA-compliant and always strives to make the establishment as accessible as possible.
The parking zones have ramps, there are wheelchair accessible shuttle buses, there are pet relief zones for service animals, and there are accessible restrooms in every concourse, just to name a few of the efforts made to accommodate for all passengers.
